This museum possesses a stunning number of art-works which are none in the institutions of its kind in Bangladesh. Of these remarkable collections are illustrated palm-leaf manuscripts Aṣṭasāhasrikā Prajňāpāramitā, life-size statue Gaṇgā, Ardhanāriśvara Śiva,Twin Garuḍa, Terracotta objects of Indus valley civilization from Mohenjo-Daro, and other classical antiquities.
All the collections have been brought under museum’s possessions through exploration, excavation, donation, exchange, purchase and through the courtesy-gift of several Government Offices and law-enforcement agencies. At present, the total number of collections is above 16 thousand.
